From £250 for a local move, up to £600+ for a long-distance crane lift. The exact price depends on three things: distance, access, and the size of your tub. Here’s the full breakdown so you know what to expect before you call.
What Does a Typical Move Cost?
| Scenario | Typical Price Range |
|---|---|
| Local move, easy access | £250 – £350 |
| Local move, difficult access (steps, narrow gate) | £350 – £450 |
| Long-distance move (100+ miles) | £400 – £550 |
| Crane lift required (over wall/fence) | £500 – £700 |
| Move + full set-up package | £420 – £580 |
These are guide prices. Every move is different — we quote on a case-by-case basis with no obligation and no hidden fees.
What Affects the Price?
Distance
This is straightforward. A 10-mile move costs less than a 200-mile move. Fuel, driver time, and vehicle wear all factor in. Local moves within the same county are the cheapest.
Access — The Biggest Variable
Access is where most of the cost variation comes from. A hot tub sitting on a patio with a wide gate and a van parked 5 metres away? That’s a quick job. A tub at the bottom of a terraced garden with 15 steps, a 70cm-wide side passage, and no vehicle access? That’s a very different job.
Specifically:
- Wide, flat access — standard pricing, no extras
- Narrow paths or gates — we use the Spa Sled (specialist trolley), adds 30-60 minutes
- Steps or slopes — extra crew needed, £50-100 additional
- Over a wall or fence — HIAB crane truck required, £150-250 additional
- Through a building — possible with the Spa Sled but time-intensive
Hot Tub Size and Weight
A 2-person tub weighs around 200kg empty. An 8-person swim spa can weigh 500kg+. Larger tubs need bigger vehicles and more crew, which affects the price.
Can I Move It Myself?
Technically yes. Practically — we’d strongly advise against it. Hot tubs are fragile (the acrylic shell cracks easily under uneven pressure), extremely heavy, and awkward shapes. We’ve attended jobs where DIY attempts have resulted in:
- Cracked shells (£1,500+ repair or write-off)
- Damaged garden walls and fences (£500+ to rebuild)
- Back injuries requiring time off work
The cost of a professional move is almost always less than the cost of getting it wrong.
What’s Included in the Price?
Our standard moving service includes:
- Draining (we handle it — you don’t need to do anything beforehand)
- Electrical disconnection
- Protective wrapping
- Loading with specialist equipment
- Insured transit
- Unloading and positioning at the new location
If you want us to reconnect and commission the tub, we offer set-up packages from £70 to £330 depending on the level of service.
